Bollywood is the hotbed for all the spiciest news and gossips in India. Of course, the scandalous Indian polity did give Bollywood a run for its money this year but then that was just an exception. Tellychakkar.com brings you a few top moments that grabbed maximum eyeballs in Bollywood this year.
Salman Khan hugging Shah Rukh Khan
Never before in the history of Bollywood has a hug created so much brouhaha. Two warring Khans – Salman and Shah Rukh hugging at an Iftar party made national news. And the man responsible for this Jhaadu ki Jhappi - politician Baba Siddique- almost walked away with the Nobel Prize for peace. Curiously though after this episode, both Khans have studiously maintained their distance from each other but questions pertaining to their infamous hug still continue to haunt them whenever they face the media. In fact, an exasperated King Khan almost threw his hands up in despair when he was questioned about the hug for the umpteenth time, on his birthday. “Kab tak aap log hum dono ko yehi sawaal puchoge,” asked SRK.
Katrina’s bikini pictures
When you are on a beach, you dress in a bikini. But not if you are an Indian celebrity. Katrina Kaif learnt this the hard way when she found her bikini pictures clicked while she was holidaying with beau Ranbir Kapoor in Ibiza (Spain) splashed on the cover of glossy filmy magazine. An aghast Katrina immediately wrote an open letter to the media deriding them for indulging in unethical behavior. Ranbir however remained silent while the controversy was raging like wild fire. But his ex girlfriend and Katrina’s competitor Deepika Padukone did have some words of wisdom for Katrina. “As a celebrity these things are bound to happen and one cannot accuse anybody of anything,” said Deepika when asked about Katrina’s bikini pictures. Ouch. That must have hurt Katrina.
Jiah Khan’s death
A young Jiah Khan’s sudden death left everyone stunned. Tongues started wagging when Jiah’s boyfriend, Sooraj Pancholi’s name cropped up during investigations and allegations were traded that he may have played a role in her death. Sooraj was incarcerated for a few days on charges of abetting Jiah’s alleged suicide. Meanwhile, the case took a nasty turn when the initial suicide theory was rubbished and allegations of Jiah having been murdered came to fore. The case is still pending in the court and Sooraj is currently out on bail. Whatever may be the outcome, there is no doubt that Bollywood has lost yet another young actress who had all the trappings of becoming a superstar.
Splitsville for Hrithik and Sussanne
Sometimes Greek Gods can also get dumped. That’s exactly what happened when Sussanne decided to separate from the hunky Hrithik Roshan, her spouse for 13 long years. And not many were surprised because news about the most loved power couple of the industry facing some tough times had started doing the rounds ever since Hrithik’s alleged affair with his Kites’ co-star Barbara Mori came to fore. Although that rumour died a natural death, things never returned to normalcy. The couple appearances at social dos started dimming. The talks of separation gained momentum just before Krrish 3’s release. Hrithik carefully avoided the pesky media while Sussanne barely stepped out into public glare. And soon a month after the release of the movie, Hrithik sent a letter from USA saying that Sussanne had decided to separate from him. Yet, another glamour couple bites the dust in Bollywood.
Munnabhai’s jail yatra
Sanjay Dutt shed buckets of tears when the judiciary sentenced him to imprisonment for possessing sophisticated firearms during Mumbai riots. We sympathized considering that jail life in India is akin to hell in a cell. But then we forgot that jail is for commoners to rot and not for celebs. Ask Sanju baba. He uncannily finds a way to step out of prison at frequent intervals. Currently, the star is out on parole (for the second time) to attend his ill wife Manyata. We wish other lesser-privileged and needy prisoners had a similar leeway.
The 100 crore club
The club was started this year by the irresistible Shah Rukh Khan who rewrote box-office history with Chennai Express. The movie eventually went on to make about 230 crore which till date remains the highest ever grosser in Bollywood. After Chennai Express, every other movie bore the brunt of this new rat race and those who couldn’t touch 100 crore were termed as mighty flops. Just when we thought SRK would end the year with a bang, Aamir zoomed in with Dhoom 3. And the way it’s been running to packed houses, we think Aamir may well end up upstaging SRK this time.
P.S – When we asked Aamir on his box-office expectations from Dhoom and if it would overtake Chennai Express, the perfectionist Khan reminded us that the honour of having crossed the first 100 and 200 crore belongs to him and not SRK. We like this competitive spirit.
I am a virgin, says Salman Khan
Salman said he is a virgin on Koffee With Karan (Star World) and saints of this world said Jai Ho. Of course, everyone knew Salman was just kidding. Salman may be a Bhai to the world but not to the women he has dated till
now.
