Why 'Piku' - the movie looks PROMISING

All you Deepika Padukone fans, rejoice! The lovely lass is all set to sizzle screens again with the upcoming flick, Piku where she plays the titular role of a Bengali architect. With Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan playing her father and Irrfan Khan being cast as her potential love interest, the movie sure looks promising. Here are five reasons why it's one of the most anticipated films of 2015...read on:

Bindi-sporting style statements:

Deepika is known for her sartorial choices and dishy designs that have become a rage with the audiences. From her gorgeous lehengas in Ram Leela to the chiffon sarees in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Padukone's style statement has made us swoon unabashedly. This trend seems to be continuing with her upcoming movie too, as she is in a stunning mix of Indo-Western outfits that's a reflection of any middle class girl. The easygoing kurtas, the striking dark, round bindis, casually brushed hair, and kohl-rimmed eyes are something every girl can relate to. There's an easy connection, as if we have known her for a long time. We are sure that the movie will be equally relatable and interesting, much like Piku's looks.

Bigwigs come together:

Big B may have failed to shine in Shamitabh, but his upcoming outing promises to make up for it. He is playing the role of Piku's constipated father, who has various gastronomical issues that the family has to deal with while on a road trip to their hometown. With his magnetic screen presence and such a well-etched role, he is going to be a sumptuous treat for the viewers! How can we forget the talented Irrfan Khan, who can make any movie his own and easily overshadow other actors...he is seen as Piku's potential love interest and the probability of a Deepika-Irrfan romance itself is enough to bring us to the theatres. Have you seen the two's chemistry in the promos? Move over, Ranveer Singh.

Shoojit Sircar:

The last time the ace director set a movie in the by lanes of Delhi, it became a blockbuster hit, Vicky Donour. He's back with another such middle class story with everyday characters struggling to make sense of their lives in Delhi's CR Park area. The joy starts when the Bengali family travels from Delhi to Kolkata with an ageing and ailing father and how a bunch of adventures make this an interesting journey of discovering family dynamics. Trust Sircar to spin a simple story into a dazzling magnum opus with his directing skills alone!

Female protagonist not in revenge drama:

It's so refreshing to have a female protagonist who's not looking for revenge, bashing up baddies, dishing out lengthy monologues on women empowerment or displaying her karate skills on the big screen. Here's a middle class architect who has to take care of her father, while also struggling to fulfill her own little fantasies. Isn't that what most women go through? To us, that's empowerment. Because the father is being looked after by a daughter, who is modern, educated, independent and at the same time responsible, caring and focused.

This is our take on the upcoming movie, what's yours? Are you excited to watch it or are tired of such road trip movies? Whatever your thoughts, let us know right away...
