MUMBAI : Veteran actor Nana Patekar recently talked about the death of his older son. The actor doesn't often discuss his personal life and speaks up about the unpleasant facts of his life that most people are ignorant of. He said that he had a cigarette addiction.
In an interview, the actor discussed his personal life with the popular news portal. He revealed that his elder son had struggled with health issues since birth.
“He had trouble in one eye, it wasn’t visible. I felt so disgusted that when I saw him, I thought about what people would think, what kind of son Nana has. I didn’t think about what he felt or how he felt. I only thought about what people would think about my son,” he said.
He added that he was shocked when his son died. He also said that he was so addicted to smoking that he used to smoke 60 cigarettes a day and also shared how he quit smoking.
“At that time, I used to smoke about 60 cigarettes a day. I even smoked while bathing. But it’s a very bad thing. No one would sit in my car because of the foul smell. I never drank alcohol much but I smoked a lot,” the actor said.
Nana Patekar went on to say that it was his sister who made him give up smoking. He stated, “It was because of my sister that I quit smoking. She lost her only son. Then my sister saw me coughing after smoking. She said, ‘What else do you want to see?'”
After hearing this, the actor was quite offended and stopped smoking right away. He talked about how he met his wife as well. He mentioned that he gave his older son the name Durvasa. “His name was Durvasa. He spent two and a half years with us. But what can you do, some things happen in life,” he added.
Nana Patekar is well-known for his direct remarks and clever sense of comedy. He has contributed to several popular films, including Tiranga, Krantiveer, and Agnisakshi. He participated in Vivek Agnihotri's The Vaccine War last year.
