Ajay Devgn and Tigmanshu Dhulia to team up for the film on India's first Dalit cricketer Palwankar Baloo; Details inside!

Palwankar Baloo was a member of the Dalit group who started out as a grounds man at a Pune cricket club. He was chosen to act for the Hindu Gymkhana in 1896. Guha wrote the book, which is centered around his experiences and the discrimination he encountered in his professional life.

MUMBAI : Actor Ajay Devgn is rumored to be part of Tigmanshu Dhulia's film on India's first Dalit cricketer, Palwankar Baloo, following 'Maidaan.' Film producer Priti Sinha announced the same on May 29 in a message posted on X. The biopic's filming is probably going to start soon.

Priti Sinha wrote, "We, @ajaydevgn @dirtigmanshu @pritisinha333 are producing Baloo Palwankar’s story based on

@Ram_Guha sir’s book 'A Corner Of A Foreign Field'. We will bring the story of this great cricketer on film soon (sic)."

 



The book 'A Corner Of A Foreign Field' by historian Ramchandra Guha is reportedly the inspiration for the movie.

 

Palwankar Baloo was a member of the Dalit group who started out as a grounds man at a Pune cricket club. He was chosen to act for the Hindu Gymkhana in 1896. Guha wrote the book, which is centered around his experiences and the discrimination he encountered in his professional life.

Meanwhile, Ajay Devgn last appeared in the biopic 'Maidaan.' It was based on legendary footballer Syed Abdul Rahim. In addition, he appeared in the horror thriller 'Shaitaan,' which starred Madhavan and Jyotika in the key parts as well.

He's going to feature in Rohit Shetty's 'Singham Again' shortly. Numerous actors, including Tiger Shroff, Deepika Padukone, Arjun Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, and Kareena Kapoor, appear in the movie. It is planned to release on August 15, 2024.
