Akshay Kumar and Aanand L Rai’s Gorkha put on a backburner; netizens say, “Good news”

MUMBAI: In 2021, Akshay Kumar announced that he will be seen in a film titled Gorkha which will be produced by Aanand L Rai and directed by Sanjay Chauhan. The first-look posters of the film were also unveiled. However, the film has been put on the backburner. 

There were reports that Akshay Kumar walked out of the film as he was not convinced of the authenticity of the story. Well, Aanand L Rai also confirmed that the movie has been put on the backburner due to technical issues.

While Akshay is not doing Gorkha, he still has many films lined up. The actor will be seen in Selfiee, Soorarai Pottru remake, Oh My God 2, Capsule Gill, and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. 

Selfiee will be Akshay’s first release in 2023. The movie is slated to release on 24th February 2023, and it also stars Emraan Hashmi, Diana Penty, and Nushrratt Bharuccha. The movie is directed by Raj Mehta and produced by Karan Johar. It is the remake of the Malayalam movie Driving Licence which starred Prithviraj Sukumaran and Suraj Venjaramoodu in the lead roles.
