Alia Bhat reacts to death and rape threats; requests action against them on social media.

Alia Bhatt reacts on death and rape threats she has been receiving and posts about it on social media asking to take an action.

MUMBAI : Only yesterday, Alia Bhatt's sister Shaheen Bhatt had shared screenshots of the death/rape threats that they have been receiving ever since Sushant Singh Rajput left for his heavenly abode. As per a section of the internet, Alia Bhatt has been accused of being responsible for contributing to the late actor's depression by either making him feel like an outsider or snatching off his projects by a section of netizens. The consequence of which was Alia Bhatt getting an immense amount of hatred and negativity from some people and she was forced to turn off her comments section on social media. Shaheen Bhatt didn't only promise to name and shame the offenders but also warned them of legal action.(via spotboye)

Now, in the midst of all this, Alia Bhatt has taken to her Instagram story and shared her favourite song that has kept her hooked in these lockdown days. It is Prateek Kuhad's fighter. For those unaware, Prateek is a popular solo artist and has many chartbuster songs to his credit. Alia Bhatt shared a screenshot of the song from her playlist and wrote, "WHAT A SONG @PRATEEKKUHAD," followed by a heart emoticon. She had also reacted to all the negativity in an indirect way, while thanking for being invited by the Academy to attend and be a part of the coveted award show.

"In a world that can be unsure and fragmented, at a time when the very social media that is meant to connect people ends up dividing them, movies are the glue that binds us," read the last line of Alia's caption.

An excerpt from Shaheen's hard-hitting post read, "To Instagram- you have zero tolerance policies for a lot of the content that people put up on your platform - I think it's fair to say that misogynistic slurs, intended to subdue and oppress should fall under the umbrella of your zero tolerance community guidelines "But if you don't want to receive abusive message turn off your message requests" `Tired of being called a bitch in your comments? Turn off your comments." Asking me to change the way I use a platform because of someone else's hatred and misogyny is the equivalent of telling me that if I go out at night and get assaulted "I was asking for it". I should not have to change the way I use a platform if someone is being abusive. They should. Full stop."
