A local court in Muzaffarpur yesterday issued arrest warrants against Ram-Leela's director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and actors Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra. The warrants were issued in relation to a case filed before the court by advocate Sudhir Kumar Ojha, last November. Sudhir has claimed in his case that certain scenes in Ram-Leela had hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus.
Warrants were also issued in the name of the movie's maker, Kishore Lulla. In its order, the court has directed the Mumbai police commissioner to arrest the concerned people and produce them before the court on 4 June.
Ram- Leela was mired in multiple controversies before its release. Many groups objected to the vulgar and bold display of love making between its lead pair whose onscreen names were that of Hindu gods.
The Magistrate of Muzaffarpur took cognizance of the case on 14 February, 2014, and summoned the actors and the director, who did not turn up following which the warrants were issued yesterday.
Looks like Sanjay Leela Bhansali will have to do some more rounds of the court to settle the matter.
