MUMBAI: Ayushmann Khurrana has made significant progress with both commercial and content-driven films in the film industry. The actor has appeared in several noteworthy works. However, one of his best-known films to date is Andhadhun which was released in 2018. Recently, the actor discussed the movie and admitted to "snatching" it from Sriram Raghavan. He also disclosed Raghavan's initial feelings that he didn't 'fit' the role.

Speaking candidly about how he "hustled" for the cult favorite in an interview with the well-known news portal, Ayushmann revealed, “I have snatched the film from him. I have hustled in the film. Hustling is very important for outsiders, and I am still hustling. I had come to know that he is writing and making this film, so I showed up at his office and told him that I want to do this film, and he said that I can’t see you in this film, which is just what Anubhav Sinha told me for Article 15. He too had said, ‘I don’t see you in this film’ and I had asked him to audition me. After you become a successful actor, people don’t ask you to audition. In the West, however, the biggest stars still audition. So I am not ashamed. If you have confidence in your craft, then why can’t you give an audition?”

The actor then revealed that Sriram auditioned him without his knowledge. “He said, ‘We’ll jam on these scenes’. He was kind of auditioning for me. I was like, ‘Let’s do this’. I had this excitement in me. Whenever a film comes to me, I treat it as my first film. It feels like the first project; give it your all. Until you have that excitement, there is no fun in life.”

He added, “We also didn’t know that Andhadhun was going to be a funny film. Tabu and I were very serious; he didn’t tell us that it was a dark comedy.”

He added, “He [Sriram Raghavan] didn’t tell us the genre. It was like going blind, literally. I was acting like I was blind, and truly, something very bad had happened to me. People were then laughing when the film was edited; I didn’t understand why they were laughing. Because after going through that journey, you feel you have made a very serious film. There is a shock value, and because of that shock value, people are laughing. I am going inside the loo to pee, and there is a guy standing there with a gun, and people are laughing! I was like, What’s there to laugh about?”

Andhadhun proved to be a huge smash at the movie office back in 2018, grossing about Rs 400 crore globally.
