MUMBAI : Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan were seen together on the big screen in the 2020 release Love Aaj Kal. The movie’s pre-release buzz was damn good thanks to the dating rumors of Kartik and Sara. But, post the release things didn’t work out well for the movie.
Love Aaj Kal received mostly negative reviews and it was compared to the first Love Aaj Kal which released in 2009. The Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer is one of the best romantic comedies made in Bollywood, and the new Love Aaj Kal failed to make a mark in the audiences’ hearts.
The 2020 release took a good opening thanks to the pre-release buzz and collected Rs. 12 crores on day one. But, it further showed a drop and the lifetime collection of the film in India was Rs. 34.99 crores.
Reportedly, Love Aaj Kal was made on a budget of Rs. 40 crore, so of course with the theatrical collection in India of Rs. 34.99 crore, the movie was a flop at the box office. The audience had high expectations from the film because it was directed by Imtiaz Ali who is known for making amazing romantic movies, but the content didn’t impress the moviegoers.
After Love Aaj Kal, all the movies of Sara have been released on OTT because of the pandemic. But, Kartik tasted success with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 which released last year. Now, all eyes are on Kartik starrer Shehzada which is slated to release on 17th Feb 2023.
