MUMBAI: Any stylist would love to have a fashion designer produce a movie. Akshay Tyagi's dream came true with Bun Tikki, which is supported by producer-turned-couturier Manish Malhotra. Malhotra created the dramedy's costumes for Shabana Azmi and Zeenat Aman, while Tyagi created Abhay Deol's unique look.
The stylist states that in directing Faraz Arif Ansari's venture, he wanted to combine Deol's charisma with a "retro vibe." He reveals, “Abhay’s look is a perfect mix of his charm and a retro vibe. We wanted his style to echo the film’s playful yet poignant tone. So, we chose outfits that blend classic elements with a touch of modern flair. From fun and stylish jackets to carefully chosen accessories, Abhay’s wardrobe is a representation of his character’s evolution.”

In addition to Aman's come back to the screen, Bun Tikki also signifies her on-screen reunion with Azmi forty-two years after their previous collaboration, Ashanti (1982). Bun Tikki examines issues of love, aging, and time passing against a backdrop that honors vintage cinema.
Tyagi says that his demand was to make the outfits match the story, which delves into the unique traits of the individuals.
“The goal was to keep the costumes as real and contemporary as possible, matching the script and setting.”
Faraz Arif Ansari will serve as the director of Bun Tikki. Under Manish Malhotra's Stage 5 Productions banner, Jyoti Deshpande, Dinesh Malhotra, and Marijke Desouza will produce the movie.
