MUMBAI: From the makers of Stree 2, there came a historical story of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj (Played by Vicky Kaushal). We even got to watch Rashmika Mandanna as Maharani Yesubai.
This is truly an unseen pair which got a pretty good reaction from the audience. Directed by Laxman Utekar, the movie hit the theatres on 14th February. Be it the songs or the trailer, it all received some amazing responses with special appreciation for Akshaye Khanna who plays the role of Auranzeb.
After the movie hit the big screens, on its first day, the movie opened up with a huge collection of around Rs 31 Cr India net. Meanwhile, it made a total of around Rs 47.25 Cr globally. The Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna starrer had a great opening.
Currently, the movie has collected around Rs 23 Cr on day 13. It has reached a total of around Rs 386.25 Cr in India net while collecting around Rs 540.35 globally. However, an unfortunate factor has hit the collections hard in a negative manner and it’s truly concerning.
We’re talking about piracy. 4k scenes from the movie have been leaked on Telegram groups and torrents as well. This has hit the film industry. The movie was about to cross 500 Cr in India but due to the recent leak, it will be next to impossible for the movie to reach that milestone.
Piracy doesn’t just affect the theatrical run but OTT run as well. If given an option to the audience to watch the movie in either theatre or on their phone, who will leave the comfort of their phone and spend money in theatre? Same goes for OTT as well. If the option is given to watch the movie for free on your phone, why will you wait for the movie’s OTT release and then pay for it? This leak might result in 25 percent loss of revenue for the OTT streaming service.
There needs to be strict action to be taken against piracy.
