MUMBAI : The last time we saw Deepika Padukone dancing was in the 2018 release Padmaavat in which she performed wonderfully on the song Ghoomar. Now, after more than four years, her fans will once again get to see her dancing in Cirkus in the track Current Laga Re.
The song was launched at an event in Mumbai today and it is getting an excellent response. When at the event, TellyChakkar asked Deepika about how it was to be on the sets and perform a dance number after a long gap, especially with Rohit Shetty and Ranveer Singh, the actress said, “It felt like I was bringing alive the Meenamma in me again. Every character that you play comes from a little bit of your personality. I feel like the character Meenamma or what you have seen in the song is inherently me; it’s just that you all don’t get to see it as often because I am shy. But, working with Rohit, I didn’t go into this song feeling like I was shooting a song, it was a celebration and that’s what you see onscreen. It was just five days of immense fun.”
When told that we hope we don’t have to wait long to see her dance again, Deepika said, “Dancing no, I mean the film also has to lend itself to that; like Gehraiyaan, you cannot suddenly break into a dance in a dramatic film like that. But, I love dancing, so yes whenever the film lends itself an opportunity I will be more than happy to do it.”
