MUMBAI: Daler Mehndi's son is known as Prince Of Pop after he released four vibrant music clips titled Inipu, Waari, Nasha and Jaan. The singer who has faced comparisons to his father- legendary Punjabi singer Daler Mehndi revealed whether his dad criticises his songs.
During an exclusive interview with TellyChakkar, Gurdip said, "Nowdays, pichle 4-5 saalo sei mei khud apne aap ko bahut criticise karta hu. Aur aisa hota hai ki matlab agar Inipu gaana dekha hai that audio in itself mei khud apni cheeze banake scrap kar deta hu, agar mujhe nai aaya pasand. Mei dikhata hi tabh hu when I am 110% sure yeh misfire nai karna chahiye in terms of talent, quality. Taaki joh hit hai woh audience ke haath mei hai. Koi bhi cheez ho sakta hai. It is not necessary that something perfect, well-organised wahi hit hoga. Something that is not well-organised woh bhi hit hoh jaata hai", he said.
"Prince Of Pop joh title decide hai woh ess basis pe decide hua tha ki joh pop industry maine dekhi hai 90's se chalti hui ab tak, there is mix fusion. Ek type ka genre fit nai hai. Joh Prince Of Pop EP hai woh chaaro gaane apne mei bahut different hai. Ek slow romantic hai, ek classical based rock fusion hai, ek very pop jaise Ini hai; woh ess wajah se rakha tha ki if someone could sing all the genres, versatile hoh sake; uss hisab se Prince Of Pop rakha tha- not just one format, one sort of singing. Koshish maine yahi ki hai ki ess EP mei har tarike ka audience jissei music pasand karte hai woh apne hisab se apna gaana sun sakte hai and response bhi kafi alag aara hai. Infact jiss gaanei ko mei soch raha tha public zyada pasand karegi ussei zyaada Vaari, Jaan chal raha hai. That is the only reason Prince Of Pop ko kyu mention kia hai", he further said.
