Elon Musk Reacts to Tom Cruise’s Arctic Teaser for Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning

MUMBAI: Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, recently responded to the teaser of Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, shared by Tom Cruise on social media. The behind-the-scenes video, filmed in the breathtaking Arctic landscapes of Svalbard — a remote region between Norway and the North Pole — highlights the extreme conditions under which the film was shot. The film, the eighth installment in the franchise, is slated for release on May 23 and continues the story from 2023’s Dead Reckoning Part One. Cruise, now 62, reprises his iconic role as Ethan Hunt, which he has portrayed since 1996.

In his post, Cruise wrote, “It is a privilege to bring a location like Svalbard to audiences. It's breathtaking in every sense of the word, and we can't wait for you to experience it in theaters.” Musk’s minimalist reply, “Okay” sparked major engagement, drawing over 32,000 views on X, where the teaser itself surpassed 628,000 views and over 2.8 million on Instagram.

Musk’s appreciation for Cruise’s work is nothing new. Last week he commented on Cruise’s 2014 sci-fi thriller Edge of Tomorrow, calling it a “Great movie”. He was responding to a post from Cinema Tweets that read: “Edge of Tomorrow is the definition of ‘rewatchable.’ I don’t know where this ranks within Tom Cruise’s filmography, but it’s definitely one of the more original films Cruise has ever made. Cruise’s chemistry with Emily Blunt is also incredibly special. I love this movie.”

The buzz around the upcoming film is further fueled by celebrity engagement. Nina Dobrev liked the teaser, while The Perfect Couple actor Michael Beach reposted it, writing, “I can’t wait!” Actress Michelle Monaghan chimed in with fire emojis, director Farah Khan exclaimed, “TOMMMMMMMMM.. ur just the BEST,” and Norwegian DJ Alan Walker added, “Can’t wait!!”

Fans on social media echoed the same enthusiasm. One X user commented, “Wow! Love that it’s in a physical location, premium for no CGI!” Another wrote, “Tom, you never miss! Can’t wait to see what you have for us,” while someone else joked, “Looks like I might actually have to go to a theater again.”

The film makes its way to cinemas in India on 23rd May.
