MUMBAI: The 2008 musical drama film Rock On turned out to be a game-changer for the whole team. It was Farhan and TV actress Prachi Desai's successful big-screen premiere with Abhishek Kapoor's direction and financial support from Farhan Akhtar. Purab Kohli was also featured in the movie.
The filmmakers planned a sequel to the critically praised movie in 2016. Years have passed since the second part of the film was dropped. Kohli revealed details on its third instalment recently.

The ensemble cast of Rock On, which included Farhan Akhtar, Arjun Rampal, Shahana Goswami, Prachi Desai, Purab Kohli, and others, was inspired by the South Korean film A Happy Life. Rock On 2 was released eight years after the original.
Now, Kohli, who played Kedar Zaveri aka Killer Drummer in the last two installments of the movie, spoke about the third part of the musical drama film. During an interview with the popular news portal, the Airlift actor was asked if there’s any possibility of Rock On 3.
Responding to this, the actor stated, “It’s a great franchise. I keep asking Farhan (Akhtar) if it’ll come back for a third part. But there are no discussions on that front as of now.”
Although the franchise's initial installment was a big smash, the sequel didn't have much of an impact at the box office. Purab wondered where this might lead his career. Speaking about that period, the Bob Biswas actor claimed that he had a huge hit following the poor box office reception of his 2013 film Jal.
That's because he dedicated all of his efforts to the film and didn't take on any other work for a year or two before it. Kohli felt helpless when it failed since he had great expectations for it. Rock On 2 was in production at the time.
Purab felt the movie would help him and get him back on track, thus it gave him hope. However, once that movie similarly fell flat, he was left thinking, "Oh my God, what do I do now?"
In the TV series 36 Days, Purab Kohli recently starred alongside Neha Sharma, Sharib Hashmi, Amruta Khanvilkar, Shruti Seth, Sushant Divgikar, and other actors.
