After wooing the audiences at large at the Cannes Film Festival in May last year, producer Namit Bajoria’s Prosenjit Chatterjee and Saskia Ranwing-starrer Bengali film Hanuman.Com is being widely released in cinema halls in West Bengal today (6 December).
The film is all about Anjani Putra (Prosenjit) a school teacher in a small village Swarnakamalpur, West Bengal where he lives happily with his wife Tanushree who he dearly calls Tanu and his old moped (vehicle). He is happy and content with his simple life style assuming that this is as much that life has to offer to him. Under that grant of the School, Anjani along with all the teachers is given a desktop computer to be installed at home. Then the computer changes the life of the human mind. And how…forms the crux of the film.
This film boasts of a mixed global cast, actors and crew from Berlin besides that of Bengal. As a matter of fact it bridges the divide between the modest world of a rural Bengal school teacher portrayed by Prosenjit and the Nordic island country which he can never dream about.
The film happens to be the first Bengal film that was extensively shot in the icy terrain of Iceland.
Cost wise Hanuman.com happens to be the first Indian film which spent over 40 per cent of its budget of around Rs 6 crore shooting in the icy terrain.
The film is also premiering in Singapore today.
