Finally! Akshay Kumar asks for a public apology after being trolled for endorsing Pan Masala

MUMBAI: Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar on Thursday issued a statement after he was brutally trolled for his association with a pan masala brand. Akshay Kumar announced that he would no longer be associated with Vimal Elaichi. The Bollywood star issued the statement through Twitter.

Kumar said, "I am sorry. I would like to apologise to you, all my fans and well-wishers. Your reaction over the past few days has deeply affected me. While I have not and will not endorse tobacco, I respect the outpouring of your feelings in light of my association with Vimal Elaichi. With all humility, I step back."

The Bollywood actor also announced that he would contribute the entire endorsement fee towards a worthy cause. He added, "I have decided to contribute the entire endorsement fee towards a worthy cause. The brand might continue airing the ads till the legal duration of the contract that is binding upon me, but I promise to be extremely mindful in making my future choices. In return, I shall forever continue to ask for your love and wishes."

Kumar was the latest Bollywood actor who endorsed Vimal cardamon products after Ajay Devgn and Shah Rukh Khan. Vimal also sells tobacco products. Netizens trolled Kumar for his decision to join Vimal promos. Social media users also shared old videos of Kumar in which he was speaking against consuming alcohol and tobacco products.
