MUMBAI: Recall the moment when Esha Deol's electrifying dance performance in the hit song Dhoom Machale from the 2004 Yash Raj Films film Dhoom lit the stage on fire? Even now, people still love the way she performed the song.

Following the release of her debut film, Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe, Esha recently talked about being compared to her mother, the actress Hema Malini. The actress from Dhoom also disclosed that following the 2002 movie's release, she experienced body shaming due to her "baby fat".

Esha Deol revealed in a recent interview with a well-known news source how her early thoughts of being in the entertainment industry changed with the release of her maiden film, Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe.

Esha revealed that she was very eager for her roles in films. She had also signed Na Tum Jaano Na Hum in addition to her debut picture. The Yuva actress said that at first, she didn't feel under a responsibility to uphold her parents' legacy. She felt a "pressure pump" following Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe's audience response.

"Then I was like, they are comparing me in my first film to my mother who has done 200 films. And they would say a lot about my baby fat. ‘Oh she has so much baby fat’," Esha said. The actress admitted having those cheeks at the age of 18 while defending that she looked "cute" in the kind of roles that she did.

Esha Deol recalled that the Yuva actress spoke to her mom, Hema Malini after being "overwhelmed" with the responses. The veteran star advised Esha to reevaluate her decision to stay in the acting profession or be thick-skinned to survive in the industry.

The Dhoom actress recalled talking to her mother Hema about how those reviews affected her. Esha was questioned by the Baghban actress about her motivations for working in the movie industry. The veteran actress issued a warning that if she allows it to interfere with her mental health, then her daughter Esha is in the "wrong profession."

Esha was advised by Hema Malini to concentrate on her goal and accept that these kinds of comparisons will inevitably arise. Hema further advised her to keep working in Bollywood if she is capable of handling comments like this.

Invisible Woman, a Suniel Shetty series, and the upcoming movie Main are both in the works for Esha Deol.
