The ‘Hate Story’ girl Paoli Dam says that she is fortunate to bag movies that provide her the opportunity to promote art and culture and spread awareness about various important issues of society.

At the music launch of her upcoming venture Mayamridanga, a film which is based on a folk form of Bengal called Alkap, the talented lady said, “Cinema provides a good platform to reach out to many people. Those who are not aware of the subject will be able to know a lot about it.”

She added, “In fact, I didn’t know much about it but only about a group, which worked on this art. I came to know in detail about this creative form of art only after doing this film. I hope that the film will be able to create awareness among the larger mass about Alkap.”

Singers like Srikanto Acharya, Raghab Chattopadhyay, Lopamudra Mitra, Dipanwita Acharya and Sambet have lent their voices for this musical film.

Directed by Raja Sen and starring Rituparna Sengupta, the film releases on March 4, 2016.

Paoli is also a part the film ‘Take Care’, where she plays the role of a girl battling breast cancer. The film revolves around her fight backs.

When quizzed if this was a conscious decision to be part of such projects, the actress quipped, “No, it’s not a conscious decision. I would say I am privileged to be part of such films.”

Her other films to be released this year are Saurav Chakraborty's Auroni Taukhon and Kamlesh Mukherjee’s untitled next which also stars Prosenjit Chatterjee and Raima Sen.
