“It was kind of intense because that was the first real fight that we did” - When Eve Macarro Faced the Baba Yaga in Ballerina, in theatres June 13th

Ballerina

MUMBAI: In the shadows of the John Wick universe, a new assassin takes the stage — graceful, lethal, and burning for revenge. Directed by Len Wiseman, Ballerina tells the gripping story of Eve Macarro (Ana de Armas), a highly skilled assassin on a relentless quest for vengeance against those who destroyed her family. Set between John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and John Wick: Chapter 4, this latest installment delivers the franchise’s signature hard-hitting action, immersive world-building, and jaw-dropping stunts.

But this isn’t just a spin-off — it’s a bold new chapter. Eve doesn’t walk in John Wick’s footsteps - She carves her own path. One of the film’s most electrifying moments brings her face-to-face with the Baba Yaga himself in a tense and cinematic showdown. As Ana de Armas explains “He’s the one that, especially if you’re a student at the Ruska Roma or that’s who you’re trying to become, he’s the one that you look up to.”

This high-stakes confrontation between Eve and Wick wasn’t just a climactic moment on screen — it was one of the very first action scenes filmed. “It was kind of intense because that was the first real fight that we did,” recalls Cara Marie Chooljian, who served as de Armas’s primary fight double and additional trainer. “It’s a huge moment in the film, and we said to Ana, ‘We’re gonna throw you into the water. Go ahead, fight Keanu Reeves, fight John Wick.’”

De Armas rose to the challenge. With Reeves’ experience and de Armas’ ability to pick up choreography quickly, the production captured an incredible moment on film. Chooljian adds, “They have different approaches, but they’re both perfectionists. If what they did is not perfect, they want to do it again.”

As with every John Wick film, precision and persistence define the process. But Ballerina brings something different to the table — a deeply human, vulnerable heroine who bleeds, breaks, and keeps coming back.

PVRINOX Pictures continues its strong commitment to Indian audiences, rolling out Ballerina with an extensive theatrical release across multiple languages like English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.

As Ballerina gears up to bring its explosive action to Indian theatres on June 13th, the excitement is just getting started. With a massive fan following for the John Wick franchise in India, Ballerina is poised to become the next big cinematic obsession.
