Jackie Shroff

MUMBAI: In a recent talk show appearance with Karishma Tanna, legendary actor Jackie Shroff opened up about his experiences in the 90s film industry, focusing on the screen time and insecurities faced by actors. In true Bidu fashion and style, Shroff shared his journey and how he landed the iconic role of Chunni Babu in the classic film Devdas.

When asked about being insecure of other actors on set Jackie reflected on his illustrious career highlighting the importance of embracing opportunities without gratitude. He also revealed that the role of Chunni Babu was initially shunned by many actors, which ultimately led to him stepping into the character.

“I never thought about it like that. We had double or triple heroes in lots of films like Amar Akbar Anthony, Muqaddar Ka Sikander, even Ram Lakhan. But it doesn’t matter to me, I’m happy with what God gives me. Nobody was ready to work in Devdas as Chunni Babu but I was, so I got it. I was shocked nobody wants to do it, pagal kutte ne kata hai. Never take tension, if they will cut your scene or anything. What the role requires you will get. There is a director, actor, and story. In every scene, you can’t be the king. Jo mila, upparwale ka kaan pakad aur nikal le”, he expressed.

Jackie Shroff's portrayal of Chunni Babu remains one of his most memorable performances. A true inspiration for the youth, his stardom is a result of his perseverance and cool-minded approach to life.

Jackie Shroff continues to captivate hearts with his performances and has an exciting slate of projects in the works. His story of becoming Chunni Babu is a testament to his belief in making the most of every role and his unwavering gratitude for the opportunities he receives.
