Salman Khan is known to have a heart of gold. Bollywood folklore is replete with stories of Salman's largesse. Salman's altruist nature was also visible recently when he agreed to bear the medical expenses of a disabled child whom he spotted in a wheelchair on road while travelling in his car.
But for all the good help that he lends, the superstar is not always paid back or reciprocated in kind. Early last year, there emerged reports of Salman Khan's bodyguards allegedly threatening the fishermen family to move their boats and fishing nets away, as they were blocking the view of two of Salman's sea-facing cottages. The issue snowballed further when the liftman of Galaxy Apartments who also happens to be from the fisherman community, alleged that Salman threatened to sack him.
In his letter addressed to the police the liftman alleged that Salman had advised him to be ‘logical’ and accept money and become rich failing which he would be kicked out of his job.
Salman who had hitherto maintained a dignified silence over the entire issue opened up before us and narrated his version of truth and why he likes and dislikes certain people.
"If I like somebody, I will make it known. If I don't like someone, I will say it straight away that I don’t like that person. Like there is one person in my own building, he is the liftman. He has given us enough trouble and he is still working in my building. We have taken care of his needs, done everything over the years for this man like if he needs something for his kids we have given him, he needs a new tadpatri (roof) for his house during monsoons, we have given him that too. So we have given him so much in spite of that this man has gone against us with regard to the house thing. Thankfully all that is sorted out now but what kind of a guy is this guy, I ask. I cannot remove him because it will become news. So every time we open the door we see him standing there, and you can't do anything. He just salutes me and says salaam saab. You know the place where he had put up was illegal. I told him when I will build my place, your place is going to go. So you tell me how much is your square foot, I will buy you square foot ahead. I will buy you square foot because you are my liftman and your place is illegal. And then the next thing I get to know is that he goes and tells media that I offered him this much and that much. You see, tutors mil jaate hain na…Principal mil jaate hain..sikhate hain ki kitna paisa mil jaayega. Ab jab tutors mil jaate hain..toh iss chakkar main unka hi nukasaan hoga na. Ab jab mera ghar ka kaam shuru hoga toh aayenge BMC. Aur BMC ko bolenege hum yeh kar rahe hain without legally paise dekar. Hum toh haamara ghar banyegnge..Toh phir unka kya hoga..Toh phir aayenge rote rote. So you see, there is no favouritism at all."
Well, all we can say is Salman is a man who is greatly misunderstood, at times.
