MUMBAI : Javed Akhtar paid an astounding Rs 7.76 crore for a brand-new home in Mumbai's exclusive Juhu neighborhood. The property is about 1199.42 square feet and is ready for occupancy.
SquareYards examined the records and found that the transaction, which was completed on July 2, had a registration charge of Rs 30,000 and a stamp duty of Rs 46.02 lakh. The property is located in Mumbai's affluent Juhu neighborhood, which is well-known for its opulent homes and celebrity quarters, in the Sagar Samrat Building.
The report claims that Akhtar paid Rs 7 crore in 2021 for the purchase of a neighboring apartment of 1218.47 square feet. At the moment, he lives in an apartment in this cooperative housing organization on a floor distinct from these two properties.
Javed had discussed his Juhu properties and his continuing project to create his dream home there in a previous interview with Mojo Story. He disclosed that he and his wife, Shabana Azmi, currently live in a modest two-room apartment as a result of the protracted construction phase. He made a funny comment during the exchange, saying that although disagreements on interior design sometimes cause stress in their marriage, they are skilled at working things out.
Javed said, “We are currently constructing a house in Juhu and it has been almost two years that it is being made. So, thankfully we have two extra small flats in the same building and we have been living there. This house could cost us this marriage. We argue about home decor things like where will the sofa look good and all, but ultimately we get past them. After half an hour of an unpleasant fight, we talk normally.”
