Javed Akhtar reveals about losing his mother when he was 8; ‘Life is a package, you can’t pick and choose’

MUMBAI: As a well-known screenwriter, lyricist, and poet in the Indian film industry, Javed Akhtar has achieved immense success. However, his private life and marriages with screenwriter and actor Honey Irani, as well as with actor Shabana Azmi, are very widely known.

In a recent interview, Javed shared about his complicated relationship with his dad and his turbulent relationship with his stepmother that led to him living apart from his father. He revealed losing his mother at the tender age of 8 which led him to live his life without getting the love of his parents. 

Javed however mentioned that despite this, he would not want to change anything about his life. In a recent interview, Javed also mentioned that he would not want to alter his life even a bit as it has made him what he is today. He said, “Life is a package, you can’t pick and choose." The 79-year-old Padma Vibhushan-awardeealso said that life is a tightly written script.

Javed spoke about his father’s shortcomings and mentioned that he was raised by his grandparents.he added that although he was a good poet, he failed in other aspects of his life.
