MUMBAI: John Abraham has been one of the most remarkable actors from the Indian Cinema who has always reinvented himself for his projects and did complete justice to his characters. The actor entered the industry with intensity personified, earned major recognition from his negative role in Dhoom, delivered some hilarious performances in Garam Masala and Housefull 2, evolved with intensity and yet broke his ‘action-hero’ stereotype repeatedly. There’s no way one can stop him.

The Diplomat, John Abraham’s latest movie has already arrived and it has garnered a massive amount of appreciation from the audience for firstly being a true story with not so much extra ‘masala’ and keeping things as authentic as possible, secondly, a not-so-much touched subject and unique storyline. The movie is directed by Shivam Nair and features Sadia Khateeb, Prapti Shukla, Sharib Hashmi, Jagjeet Sandhu and Ashwath Bhatt.
Now in an exclusive segment ‘Magic With GiGi’, anchor, actor and scriptwriter Gayatri Gauri got in touch with John Abraham where the actor opened up about some interesting. We have seen John Abraham as a negative character in Pathaan and from there, he switched to a ‘hero’ in The Diplomat.
When asked to him what draws him towards such subjects, John Abraham said, “I fell in love with the script when I read it” He described the director, Shivam Nair as ‘quiet’ and ‘shy’ and further in response, said, “Somewhere down the line, I don’t know, may be it’s my subconscious level, there is this love for my country that I have that has to come out in different ways.”
Talking about his character in Pathaan, he said, “it was ‘mera dil tod degi, tera bhi tod degi, naam kya hai uska, Bharat Maa’ means I’m a spurned lover. My country broke my heart”
Further talking about his latest project, he explained, “That is chalk and this is cheese, completely different. Here, I’m a diplomat, I look out for my country but in a sophisticated manner, in a very diplomatic manner and of course I had to play the role very differently...”
John Abraham praised Siddharth Anand, the director of Pathaan and said, “What a wonderful director and what a great job he did to present me in a certain way.”. Drawing the difference with The Diplomat, he said, “...similarly Shivam Nair in The Diplomat, I think superlative director, presented me in such a beautiful way as a diplomat and they both stand out in their own ways.”
