MUMBAI: According to his lawyer, actor-singer Justin Timberlake was taken into police custody in New York after being charged with one count of driving while drunk. The musician was spotted "operating his vehicle in an intoxicated condition" in New York late on Tuesday, according to the cops. According to a police statement, Timberlake allegedly failed to maintain his lane and stop at a stop sign while operating a 2025 BMW.

As per court records, Timberlake told the court, “had one martini and followed my friends home”
According to court documents, Timberlake had "bloodshot and glassy" eyes and his breath had a "strong odour of an alcoholic beverage."
Timberlake was "unable to divide attention," according to one officer, who also said that "he had slowed speech, was unsteady on his feet, and performed poorly on all standardised field sobriety tests." Three times, Timberlake turned down a chemical test, first stating, "No, I'm not doing a chemical test." Details of his field sobriety tests are included in the report. Police said he was taken into custody and kept for his arraignment overnight.

Timberlake's court appointment is set on July 26 and he was released without posting bail. On eastern Long Island, in the Hamptons, sits the village of Sag Harbor. Shortly before his arrest, Timberlake reportedly exited the nearby American Hotel, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.
