Karan Johar and Sajid Nadiadwala's 2 States to release on 18 April next year

Karan Johar and Sajid Nadiadwala’s 's upcoming film 2 States, based on Chetan Bhagat's novel of the same name, will hit the theatres on 18 April next year (2014). The film, directed by Abhishek Varman, is the story about a couple coming from two different states in India who face hardships in convincing their parents to approve of their marriage. The novel is said to be inspired from the real life story of the author and his wife Anusha Surya Narayanan who are from Delhi and Tamil Nadu respectively. This is the second Chetan Bhagat novel based largely on his life, the other being his first book Five Point Someone. The film stars Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in lead roles. While Arjun plays Krish Malhotra, Alia plays Ananya Swaminathan. The film has a story of itself. It was first announced that director Siddharth Anand would make a film based on 2 States with Saif Ali Khan playing the lead. Due to creative differences over script between the director and Saif, the project was called off. Later it was announced that the screen adaptation of the Chetan Bhagat novel would be produced by Sajid Nadiadwala with Shah Rukh Khan and Asin in the lead that would have been helmed by Vishal Bhardwaj. Things further took a change and now Arjun and Alia will wow audiences next year with 2 States.
