MUMBAI: With this certifiably berserk year turning our lives upside down, our sanitizers and masks have become our new BFF’s. While on one hand social distancing and quarantine are words we have adopted fluently into our vocabulary, it seems like social responsibility has sorely missed the mark with these unaware celebrities.

The rest of us may have bunkered down in our homes, relying solely on snacks, movies and zoom parties to keep us going but these celebrities have incidentally flouted the rules, compromising not just their own safety but also of everyone around them. While these celebs might be have briefly become COVidiots, you do not have to be! If we continue to follow all the necessary guidelines, we could be back to our partying ways in no time.

As we look forward to a much better 2021, let’s take a look back at the most famous COVidiots of 2020:

Guru Randhawa

In the early hours of 23rd December 2020, Guru Randhawa was one among other high-profile names like Sussanne Khan and Suresh Riana, who were caught in a police raid at a posh club in Mumbai. He was arrested for violating social distancing norms and breaking the newly imposed curfew in the city. Post being released on bail; he declared his remorse for his actions in a public statement. He claimed to have been unaware of the restrictions, promising to maintain the law-abiding status he has diligently maintained so forth.

Kanika Kapoor

The famous crooner was the first Bollywood celebrity to have tested positive for coronavirus. Coming straight from London, she proceeded to attend a party, which included several politicians and public figures. She was reprimanded for not adhering to the quarantine period prior to the event. Furthermore, she was interrogated for attending the event, as well as for neglecting to inform the authorities of her recent positive status.

Poonam Pandey

In the early muddled months of the strict lockdown imposed in Mumbai, actress Poonam Pandey was arrested by authorities for roaming around post curfew hours without any valid reason. Marine Drive police seized her car and let her off with a warning to be more mindful of the circumstances.

Donald Trump

Donald Trump has fuelled ample controversies when it comes to the pandemic. Social media platforms like Twitter have bombarded him for attending rallies where more than 75,000 people were present without a mask and social distancing practices were not followed. Being the former president, citizens expected more from the politician, who has contracting the virus himself.

Kim Kardashian

The reality star came under massive fire for flaunting her wealth on social media while the rest of the world suffered at the hand of the crippling virus. Everyone has struggles of their own, including high profile celebrities like Kim. The starlet shared some images from her private island gateway with her entire family, trying to make the best of bad times. The glamorous shots rubbed audiences the wrong way as her attempt to imbibe normalcy backfired. She was labelled as ‘insensitive’ and ‘tone deaf’ in the face as the rest of the world was struggling to make ends meet during these trying times.
