MUMBAI: Actress Shivani Gosain says music isn’t just something she listens to—it’s something she lives by. As the world celebrates World Music Day on June 21st, Shivani also marks two other personal milestones on the same date: International Yoga Day and her birthday. “So 21st June is anyways a significant day for me,” she says with a smile.
Talking about her deep connection with music, Shivani shares, “Without music, I can't imagine this world. Music is peace, music is mood, music is emotion, music is expression, music is a spiritual connection.” For her, music finds its way into nearly every aspect of life—from meditation and spiritual songs to travel playlists and alone time. “In any mood, music gives the best company,” she adds.
When it comes to favorite artists, Shivani’s taste is wide-ranging. “I like Arijit—his singing is soulful. I also like Diljit, Guru Randhawa, Harrdy Sandhu, and old melodies by Kishore Kumar,” she shares. “It really depends on the mood; all are good.”
Ask her for a favorite song and she’s quick to admit, “I can't say I have just one favorite song—it all depends on my mood.” Whether she’s doing household chores or getting ready for a shoot, music plays an essential role in setting the tone of her day. “I have a habit of keeping peppy music on when I’m alone at home doing my house duties—it keeps me happy and energetic,” says Shivani. “During yoga or workout time, music keeps my energy high.”
She also gives a glimpse into her pre-shoot rituals. “In my makeup room, I start my day with mantras and bhajans. Then sometimes I play nonstop high-energy party music and sometimes slow romantic songs—they keep me in a good mood for the entire day.”
On the ongoing trend of remixes, Shivani is candid: “A few old song remixes are good, but not all. Original songs have their own charm. But for those who haven't heard the original ones, remixes feel more enjoyable.”
For Shivani, music is far more than entertainment—it’s energy, a companion, and a quiet kind of power that keeps her grounded, inspired, and joyful.
