Legendary actor Pran passes away

Yaari hain iman mera yaar meri zindagi...lovers of Indian cinema will never forget this eternal song from Zanjeer picturised on legendary Pran, who looked majestic yet fiery in his Pathan avatar. Our hearts are heavy as we write these lines. Yes, millions across the globe mourn as reports flash across media of Pran breathing his last at the Lilavati Hospital, Mumbai on Friday evening (12 July 2013) where he was undergoing treatment. Pran was 93. According to reports, the last rites of the actor will be conducted at 12 pm tomorrow at the Shivaji Park crematorium. The man who gave a new meaning and dimension to portrayal of “villain” characters in Indian cinema is known for his impeccable performances in movies like Don, Amar Akbar Anthony, Upkaar, Parichay, Sharaabi, Zanjeer, among hundred others. With a career spread over almost six decades, Pran acted in over 350 films and won several awards and accolades. The government had also honoured Pran with the Padma Bhushan in 2001. In the year 2013 Pran received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Pran is survived by his wife Shukla Ahluwalia, sons Arvind and Sunil, and daughter Pinky. May his soul rest in peace!!!
