Maidaan is not just a movie but a tribute to Syed Abdul Rahim who was an Indian football coach and manager of the India national team from 1950 until his death in 1963, and a former player. He is regarded as the architect of modern Indian football and his era is known as the golden era of Indian football history.

The movie was in the making for a long time and the fans of the actor were eagerly waiting for the release of this movie. Finally, the process came in motion when the makers released the first trailer of the movie. However, the trailer did not seem to impress the audience as they immediately compared it to other sports drama movies which were amazing. Later, when the makers released the second trailer of the Ajay Devgn starrer, the fans of the actor appreciated it and were intrigued to watch the movie in theatres. However, the competition was tough as there was also an action comedy movie Bade Miyan Chote Miyan releasing on the same day and the movie starred Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Manushi Chhillar and Alaya F.

Talking about Maidaan, the movie features Ajay Devgn as Syed Abdul Rahim while we also get to see some good performances from Priyamani and Gajraj Rao. The movie hit the big screens on 11th April and the audience were looking forward to watching the movie on big screen. While the movie is getting good reviews from the audience, let’s look at the business aspect of the movie. The Ajay Devgn starrer was supposed to be released on 10 April but the date was pushed one day ahead and instead there were paid previews of the movie.

On its opening day, the movie collected Rs 5 Cr net. However, the paid previews that took place on Wednesday collected Rs 2 Cr. Now it’s been a week since the movie released and on its day 7 the movie collected around Rs 2 cr while the worldwide collection is around Rs 36 cr. The day 7 was a working day and we observed how the movie takes a slight upward slope on working days all the way to the weekends but drops down majorly again on Monday.
