MUMBAI: A 32-year-old man from Mumbai had to block around 150 callers as he has been receiving harassing and abusive calls from the people. His number has got mistaken for actress Rhea Chakraborty’s number. According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, Sagar Surve is a clerical staffer of an educational institute and his number differs from Rhea’s by just one digit. He has been receiving abusive and hate calls for a week now. He said that he had to block 150 callers and had to switch off his cell phone.
Rhea has been accused by the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s family for abetment to suicide and criminal breach of trust among other things. Sagar said that when started getting calls asking for Rhea, he dismissed them as wrong numbers. He said that it didn’t occur to him as to why people were asking about the actress. He said that he started receiving messages, voice calls and video calls on WhatsApp and people asked him to send them a photograph of himself when he told them that they were mistaken. He further said that he tried to ignore the calls but it worsened over the next three days.
Sagar said that his cousin alerted him that a news channel is flashing Rhea’s number while showing her and Sushant’s call records and pointed out that his number differed from the actress’ by just a digit. He even got in touch with the police and they suggested him to use another number for a while since he wanted to avoid filing a complaint. Meanwhile, Supreme Court has reserved its verdict with regards to the petition filed by Rhea wherein she requested the transfer of the FIR filed against her from the Bihar Police to the Mumbai Police. The next hearing is scheduled for Thursday, August 13.
