MUMBAI: Bollywood actor Dia Mirza, who was recently seen in Made in Heaven season 2, has opened up about how she has become a ‘part time actor’. Dia stated that she feels the industry doesn’t recognize her strong dedication to being an artiste.
In an interview with Puja Talwar, Dia said, “When you are a full time activist, then you end up being a part time actor. But having said that, the truth is that nothing gives me more joy than being a part of storytelling that can affect change. And I’m so grateful for the opportunities that have been coming along.”
She added, “So the activist in me is even satisfied with the stories that I managed to be a part of. I don’t know whether the industry really recognises the fact that I care deeply about being an artiste.”
Dia Mirza stressed the importance of her acting career, as it allows her to also make a meaningful impact as an activist, reaching a broader audience who are more receptive to her message.
The actor, who has recently been a part of films like Thappad, Bheed, Made in Heaven and Call My Agent, continued, “I feel I have so much to give, you know, my life experiences, the kind of extraordinary human stories that I get to witness and appreciate and empathize and understand. All of that contributes to the actor that I am. And I’m always raring to go and I have so much to offer. I just wish more people would cast me, quite frankly.”
