Since the last many years, Film India Worldwide (FIW) at the Mumbai Film Festival has been showcasing films that are international in character but linked to a recognizable Indian idiom.
This year, FIW has zeroed in on six select films from countries spread far and wide like UK, Nepal, France, Canada, Pakistan and Spain. Of these some have already been lauded at film festivals all over the globe while a few others will have their Indian premieres at the festival.
The films are Amit Kumar’s Jadoo (opening film), Eelum Dixit’s Pailahuru, León Siminiani’s MAPA, Pan Nalin’s Faith Connections, Sabiha Sumar’s Good Morning Karachi and Richie Mehta’s Siddharth.
Incidentally, these films are made either by filmmakers originating from India and now living elsewhere, whose heart and art echo back to their homeland or they are by international filmmakers who come to India’s locations to reflect its reality with new eyes.
These films, part of the Mumbai Film Festival would be screened at Liberty Cinema and Metro Big Cinema, Marine Lines, as well as at Cinemax (Versova).
