Never approached Kareena to play Sangeeta Bijlani in Azhar's biopic - Ekta Kapoor

For the past few days, speculations have been rife in the media with unconfirmed sources claiming that Ekta Kapoor was in talks with Kareena Kapoor to play Sangeeta Bijlani’s role in Moh. Azharuddin’s biopic that Balaji Motion Pictures is producing. It was believed that Kareena had given her nod for this Emraan Hashmi starrer only to pull out of it later on.

Rubbishing these reports, Ekta today said, “I never approached Kareena for the role. All these are false reports. I would want the real Sangeeta Bijlani to essay the role.”

Ekta however agreed that the biopic on Azhar would be a controversial one and she would tread with utmost caution and choose her words wisely while commenting on it. "Azhar is legend. He is also the fallen hero, victim who has been criticized. I will hold a press conference in a month from now and announce it officially. The film is very controversial and I have to stay clear off a lot of controversy.”

The TV czarina was speaking at an event where Balaji Motion Pictures announced their plans to release several of their upcoming movies including Azhar in Dolby Atmos, a superior sound technology used in cinema theaters to enhance the movie watching experience.

Said Ekta, “Bollywood has always ignored sound. To create visual experience, we need a great cinematographer, exotic locales but for sound we need Dolby Atmos. It will be used in Azhar where the roar of the stadium, the heartbeat of the hero would be amplified to create greater impact in the minds of the audience.”

The lady however looked miffed when the media shot a barrage of questions about her future projects. Ekta for some strange reason seemed reluctant to talk about her future projects and this despite the media invite stating Balaji Motion Pictures plans to announce ‘multiple’ films from the banner to release in Dolby Atmos at the event today.

She spoke about Azhar only after media members broached the topic. Finally, when we asked about her deal with Ram Gopal Varma going kaput (Ekta and RGV had collaborated for an erotica title XES until RGV was replaced by Ken Ghosh and the film renamed XXX), Ekta looked a bit peeved and answered after some prodding, “All is well. The project is now named XXX.”

However, she signaled the end of the press conference and walked out in a huff when we further questioned her on RGV.
