MUMBAI: Nikkhil Advani and Karan Johar had a falling out after the success of Kal Ho Naa Ho. Recently, Nikkhil revealed how he and Salman Khan worked on his next project, Salaam-E-Ishq during the film's promotion. His most recent film Vedaa is currently playing in theatres.

After he and Karan had a fallout, Salman supported Nikkhil and agreed to feature in his upcoming project, giving him the title of "messiah" of the film industry. However, Nikkhil faced a serious faux pax on the first day of filming.

During his interview on Aapka Apna Zakir, Nikkhil revealed that he had quite a few crew people on the set on the first day of the Salaam-E-Ishq filming when they were doing the muhurat shot. “500 junior artistes, 200 dancers, Bosco-Caesar (choreographers), Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra. Salman was standing there and I was looking at the monitor and I said ‘Shah Rukh, ready?'” he recalled.

Shah Rukh Khan has been helmed by Nikkhil in Kal Ho Naa Ho earlier. Prior to this, he worked with Karan Johar on Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, both of which featured Shah Rukh in the lead role. Nikkhil claimed that the entire set fell silent when he addressed Salman as Shah Rukh. “Salman gave me a look and the whole set went quiet. Then he said, ‘Yeah Karan, I am ready,'” he recalled.

Nikkhil Advani, in an earlier conversation with the popular news portal, said, “Salman Khan prides himself on being the messiah of the industry, so the minute I walked out of the doors of Dharma Productions, I got a call from Salman saying, ‘Come and meet me’. (He then said) ‘Now you will work for me, you will make a film for me’. And I appreciate that.” Years later, he explained, this was also the reason he directed Sooraj Pancholi's Hero.

“I did Hero because Salman called me up, even after I started D-Day. After D-Day, the next film I did was Hero. Hero and Katti Batti were two big flops, one week after another,” he recalled.
