Not concerned about box-office returns, says Vishal Bhardwaj

Vishal Bhardwaj
The master auteur, Vishal Bhardwaj is back in business. The filmmaker, who is known for his penchant of bringing Shakespearean drama alive on Indian celluloid, has chosen to interpret the Bard's greatest tragic drama, Hamlet this time around. Haider will bring to life all Shakespearean elements that Vishal had skillfully displayed in Omkara (an adaptation of Othello). And lending faces to the lead characters this time are Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor Known for wowing the critics with his meticulous direction and captivating storytelling ability, Vishal like always remained unmoved and unburdened by box-office expectations. "I forget a film the moment it is made. I am not interested in the box-office returns of the film after its release," Vishal reportedly said at the film's trailer launch today. Known to be a tough taskmaster, Shahid Kapoor too got a taste of the director's demanding nature. "Vishal sir is very demanding. The moment an actor is selected, everyone knows that they are in for some tough times," Shahid said. Among the ensemble of powerful actors, Haider will also see Tabu playing an important role. The senior actress and Shraddha Kapoor will be seen singing in the movie. Shahid was seen mock complaining how despite his earnest implorations, Vishal refused to give him a song to sing. Shraddha who has been in news for earning photojournalists ire found some much needed support from Shahid and Vishal on stage today. The duo requested the media to not torment her for her recent media gaffes. Shahid praised Shraddha as a young and upcoming actress of remarkable caliber and even called her chulbuli. Haider will open in cinema screens on 2 October.
