As Deepika Padukone arrived at the DRDO office to appear before NCB officials for her alleged drug-chats dated October 2017, an old interview of Piku actress, from the same year and month has gone viral. DP had back then said she didn’t know if she was completely out of depression

MUMBAI: Deepika Padukone, name is all over the internet as the actress has been called by the NCB in the drug case, the alleged ‘drug-chats with manager Karishma Prakash from October 2017 have landed the actress in big controversy. NCB reportedly got hold of those chats via Rhea Chakraborty’s talent manager Jaya Saha. Reportedly, Jaya and Deepika had formed a group with other members of KAWN talent Management Company including actress’s manager Karishma Prakash. In the very same group, Karishma and Deepika had allegedly exchanged messages about ‘maal’, ‘hash’, and ‘weed. As Deepika Padukone arrived at the DRDO office to appear before NCB officials, an old interview of Piku actress, from the same year and almost the same month, has gone viral.

The WhatsApp chats accessed by NCB are dated October 2017 when Deepika had said at an event that she’s not completely over her depression. On October 5, at the India Economic Summit 2017, Deepika had said, “I don't think I can say that I'm completely over it (depression). There is always a fear at the back of my mind that I might have a relapse because it has been such a bad experience for me.” Further when she was asked if being vocal about depression had cost her movie roles, she said some producers who did not approach her.

She said, “Maybe there are people who haven't offered me films because they think I was depressed and I can't act. Maybe, I don't know. I'm in a good space because I can choose the movies that I want to act in, but I don't think everyone has that luxury of where they want to work or when they want to work.”

She further added, “A large part of the stigma comes from the fact that we (just) talk about physical education in schools. I had physical education in my school, but we didn’t have anything to talk about mental health. It’s not a part of the curriculum. If we included that in the curriculum and introduced the idea or the importance of mental health at school level, there will be no stigma.”
