A R Murugadoss’ Telugu film Stalin starred the Andhra superstar Chiranjeevi. Now when Salman Khan has reprised Chiranjeevi’s role, albeit in a spruced-up avatar, in Jai Ho it seems perfectly legitimate for the original hero to watch the remake hero.
Sure enough, one now hears that Salman is setting up a show of Jai Ho for Chiranjeevi and his son the reigning Telugu star RamcharanTeja in Hyderabad.
Says a source, “Salman is very very close to Chiranjeevi and his son Ramcharan. In fact whenever Salman is in Hyderabad he makes sure he spends ample time with them. Salman has even stayed in Chiranjeevi’s home. And when Ramcharan was shooting for his Hindi debut Zanjeer in Mumbai, every day unfailingly the khana for Ram’s lunch would go on the sets from Salman’s kitchen.”
In fact it now comes to light that it was Chiranjeevi who suggested that Salman and Sohail do a remake of Stalin. Says the source, “This was at a time when Salman had given dates to Sohail. But they didn’t have a script. This was when Chiranjeevi suggested Stalin to Salman.”
And now a special screening of the film is being organized for Chiranjeevi.
Says the source, “Salman is uncharacteristically nervous about Chiranjeevi Sir watching the remake. He feels, ‘Pataa nahin kaisa lagega unko.’ So he may go all the way to Hyderabad to show the film to Chiranjeevi Sir and then not attend the screening at all.”
