Our film industry is filled with North Indians and Punjabis – Sushil Kumar Shinde

Sushil Kumar Shinde
Sushil Kumar Shinde may be currently facing severe flak for attending Rajjo’s music launch but the minister remains unfazed. The political blame game has already begun with the opposition training its guns on the Home Minister for giving due importance to a Bollywood event over Patna’s bomb blast. While we do not wish to get into a political commentary here, we can certainly tell you what transpired at the venue. The Home minister walked in pretty late and missed the first half of the function that was already underway at J.W. Mariott. Shinde then stayed on for the next 45 minutes and watched two dance performances before finally going on stage to release the music of Rajjo. Here Shinde, who is not exactly known for his oratorical skills, surprised many by giving an extensive speech that lasted for a good 15 minutes. In his speech, Shinde heaped praise on his friend and director of Rajjo, Vishwas Patil and said that it’s only because of his friendship with Vishwas that he is here today for the event. “Our film industry is mainly filled with Punjabis and North Indians. It’s nice therefore to see someone like Vishwas Patil who hails from Kolhapur and who is also an IAS officer coming into our film industry with such a good script. I also like the fact that which Vishwas has given credit to writer Jayant Pawar whose story is being made into Rajjo. I am here only and only to extend my support for my dear friend Vishwas.” The minister also congratulated music director Uttam Singh for giving a melodious score for Rajjo. Actress Kangana Ranaut’s special efforts in visiting Nagpada to understand the life of the prostitutes and tawaifs from close quarters also found praiseworthy mention in the minister’s speech. Shinde left soon after finishing his speech only to be mobbed by the waiting media outside. From the periphery, it looked like a sweet gesture extended by Shinde for his dear friend Vishwas Patil, something which lasted for not more than 45 minutes. Just that the politician got the timing of the entire event wrong. But then again was it wrong for the Home Minister to attend a function two hours after Patna was rocked by serial bomb blasts? Well we will leave our readers to answer that one. Rajjo starring Kangana Ranaut and newcomer Paras Arora is slated to release on November 15th alongside Ram-Leela.
