Pavan Malhotra, who received a fabulous critical acclaim as Milkha Singh’s Sikh coach Gurudev Singh in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (BMB), is all set to play a very controversial character in The Bastard Child in which he plays the ‘Butcher of Bengal’ responsible for the program.
The Bastard Child is seemingly a controversial film based on the rape of 2, 00,000 Bangladeshi Bengali women by Pakistani Army during Bangladesh ‘Liberation’ where rape was used a weapon of War.
Asked about the huge box office success of BMB, Pavan says, "I am very pleased that Bhaag Milkha Bhaag has received such a stupendous success both with the critics and masses alike. It will go down in history as one of the biggest biopic. Truly it has inspired the masses.
Farhan’s performance was pitch perfect and he really worked hard to get his athletic physique and body language right. And what do I say of Rakesh Omprakash Mehra, Earlier, it was a pleasure working with him in Delhi 6 and now BMB. He will be remembered as an iconic filmmaker!”
Talking about his role in the new film, Pavan reveals, "My character in The Bastard Child is responsible for the atrocities in Bangladesh, where rape is used as a weapon of war to terrorize the people. My character is menacing. Though the title is a working title, it may change, considering the controversial nature of the subject.”
Pavan is very judicious on the roles he play and considers that every time he takes up a role, he accepts a new challenge. The actor’s body of work truly speaks for itself, be it Salim Langde Pe Mat Ro, Black Friday, Bagh Bahadur, Delhi 6, Don, Earth, Fakir, Jab We Met, Khamosh, Road to Sangam, Brother in Troubleand Aithe (Telugu Blockbuster) among a lot others.
