MUMBAI: OMG 2, starring Akshay Kumar, Yami Gautam, and Pankaj Tripathi, became a huge critical and financial success. The comedy-drama is finally going to be available for streaming two months after its debut. Yami expressed her enthusiasm for the film's OTT distribution and how it would help it reach the right audience.
On Sunday, October 8, OMG 2 will be made available on Netflix. Lawyer Kamini Maheshwari's on-screen counterpart, Yami Gautam, expressed excitement at the film's release. She said, "Super thrilled for the release of OMG 2 on an OTT platform! More than just a film; it's a message that deserves to reach it’s right audience, and I'm confident it will find its way via an OTT release! With the immense love and the thunderous response, that the film received after its theatrical launch, I'm even more excited and eagerly waiting to see what the OTT release has in store for us! Hopefully, the film will start and provoke a positive conversation amongst the teenagers, that we had intended for it to."
Amit Rai is the writer and director of OMG 2, which is a spiritual successor to the 2012 movie OMG - Oh My God! Akshay Kumar plays a Shiva messenger in the movie, and Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam respectively play a shop owner and an opposing lawyer. In supporting roles, the movie also features Govind Namdev, Pavan Malhotra, and Arun Govil. It addresses the issue of sex education in India, which led to censorship issues prior to the film's release.
The story was extensively edited and modified by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), who gave it an A (adult) certificate. Originally, Lord Shiva played the role of Kumar; he was then transformed into Shiva's messenger. OMG 2 and Gadar 2 by Sunny Deol were released on August 11.
The next time audiences will see Yami will be in the comedy Dhoom Dhaam with Pratik Gandhi.
