A R Rahman evades question on Linga's music failure

A R Rahman

Rajinikanth's Linga has failed to create any Rajinikath like magic at the box-office. Mounted and presented on a lavish scale, the movie which also had Bollywood star Sonakshi Sinha in a lead role has not exactly please both trade pundits and audience. Another failure has been the music composed by A R Rahman which too has received a lukewarm response.

Infact, Rahman's previous musical outing with Rajinikanth in Kochadiiyaan too failed to generate any buzz among aficionados. Even in Bollywood, the Oscar winning composer has had an average year with songs of Highway and Lekar Hum Deewana Dil sinking without any great trace.

When we asked Rahman if he considered 2014 a good year musically, the curious composer checked with us the reason behind asking the query. On explaining that his outings in Bollywood and in Tamil especially Linga have not exactly hit the bull's eye as one had expected, Rahman let out a slight sigh and smartly avoided mentioning Linga and Lekar Hum Deewana Dil in his answer.

Said Rahman, "I have done almost 12 movies in 2014. It was a workout for me and my team. I think it is one of my happiest years whether it is Hollywood where I had three movies or Tamil films where I worked with Shankar and Rajinikanth. Some of the good movies like I have been shifted to 2015. So I have more stuff coming up."

Well, that's a smart reply Rahman. Let's hope 2015 brings you more success than 2014.
