Ram Gopal Varma summoned in Mumbai Court for Twitter-shaming Lord Ganesha!

The Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate court, Mumbai has issued the summon to Varma last week directing him to appear before it on 8 August, for his funny rantings about the Hindu deity Ganesha on Twitter. It has been asserted that the filmmaker had not just raised doubts on the ability of Lord Ganesha to remove obstacles from the path of his devotees but had also poked fun at the physical attributes of the deity on the microblogging website. In the complaint, the complainant further alleged that Varma’s comments were in bad taste and an insult to Lord Ganesha. "These tweets are per se outrageous and are on the face of it, hurting and inciting religious feelings and sentiments of people who practise, preach and propagate Hindu religion," the complaint read.
