MUMBAI: Her soulmate, backbone and best friend, this is how astrologer Rinhee Suberwal describes her mother. Rinhee, who is also a choreographer as well as a past life regression therapist, vaastu consultant, numerologist and crystal healer, says that her mother means the world to her.
“My mother is my soulmate. She is my backbone, my best friend. We share a love-hate relationship, and she is truly the best mother. I always thank the Almighty for blessing me with such a strong and empowering mom. But I must say, I have three other mothers in my life apart from her—my Mama, my Masi who is just like a mother, and my Nani. My maternal side is incredibly powerful, and they have each played the role of a mother in my life in different ways. I cannot deny that,” she says.
She adds, “My mom is the epitome of grace and dignity for me. No matter what she has done for me, I can never repay her. She has endured a lot of pain for me, stood by me through struggles, cheered for my highs, and held my hand during the lows. She is the strongest pillar of support one could ever ask for.”
Rinhee says that she feels to grateful to her mom for everything. “I feel deeply grateful to have such a mother. She goes out of her way to make things work for me, yet never lets me know if she’s feeling tense or overwhelmed. She just keeps taking care of the entire family like it’s the easiest thing in the world. She is everything to me. And if I worship anyone in this world it's my mother,” she says.
Sharing her Mother’s Day celebrations, she says, “I would simply like to be with her and spend some quality time together. Life is moving at such a fast pace these days. We are all constantly on the run managing work, finances, and trying to build our careers. In the middle of all this chaos, it becomes really hard to spend time with our families.”
She adds, “But my mom is one person who just understands without me saying anything, she knows what’s going on with me, what’s wrong, and what’s right. On Mother’s Day, I just want to sit with her, talk, and understand what’s going on in her life. I want to know how she’s managing everything and if she has any issues that I can help her with. I just want to be there for her, the way she’s always been there for me.”
She adds that she has learnt a lot from her mother. “One life lesson my mother taught me that will always stay with me is: ‘Never be dependent on anyone not emotionally, not financially, not mentally.’ This has shaped my personality and helped me become the independent woman I am today. She’s taught me that being self-reliant is the biggest strength anyone can have, and that strength begins with self-belief.”
As for food cooked by her mom, she says, “My mom is Bengali and my dad is Punjabi, so I’ve grown up enjoying the best of both worlds! But I especially love Bengali food. My absolute favorites are Machher Jhol with bhaat ,and mangsho which means mutton. We are non-vegetarians, and I absolutely love everything she cooks! Her chicken biryani and fish biryani are to die for. She is a fabulous cook.”
