MUMBAI: Salman Khan may not appear in YRF's next two spy films, War 2 and Pathaan 2. The actor has made four appearances in the spy realm and created the universe with Ek Tha Tiger. These include Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan and his three stand-alone movies, Tiger Zinda Hai, Ek Tha Tiger, and Tiger 3.
Although it was anticipated that Tiger would make a cameo in the Pathaan 2 film starring Shah Rukh Khan and War 2 starring Hrithik Roshan, a recent source has stated that Tiger will only make significant appearances at key points in the espionage world.

A source told the popular news portal that Aditya Chopra doesn’t want to over-dilute Salman’s presence in the universe by his recurring appearances and wants to only bring him for high-impact moments. “Of the 5 films made in the Spy Universe to date, four have featured Tiger. The Team at YRF feels that there is enough of Tiger and he should mark a return to the universe at the most crucial juncture now. Having random cameos in feature films will dilute the power of Tiger as a standalone character. He has discussed the larger plans for Tiger with Salman Khan and even he is on the same page,” claimed a source.
“Salman is also tired of doing cameos and is now wanting to do something substantial. Adi doesn’t want the cameos within the universe to be gimmicks and hence he will be carefully plotting the criss-crossing of all key characters in the timeline ahead. Watch out for the return of Tiger in the most unexpected manner going forward,” the insider added.
War 2 and Pathaan 2 are reportedly in development. War 2 is reportedly going to be directed by Ayan Mukerji, and it will be a huge movie. Kiara Advani is rumored to be playing the female lead, and Jr. NTR has been cast by the filmmakers to portray the antagonist. It's been stated that the movie is now under production. In Pathaan 2, Shah Rukh is supposedly making a comeback as Pathaan. Later this year, the actor is rumored to begin filming the sequel.
