MUMBAI: Even though Shah Rukh Khan is one of the biggest celebrities in the world, he is always praised for his generosity and humility towards everyone he meets.

He desires that his children, AbRam, Suhana Khan, and Aryan Khan remain humble while appreciating the benefits that come with being his famous children. Shah Rukh Khan said, “Beyond my drop-dead gorgeous looks (grins) and stardom, we are a normal family. I know it looks alien and different from the outside. But I want my kids to be humble about their privileges. The wife (Gauri Khan) keeps the balance with her wisdom. At the core of it is simplicity. I’m just someone who found a way to spread happiness, so they support me.”

Shah Rukh added that his family asked him whether he had gotten tired of his job after nearly 30 years. He said, “I know I am limited. I don’t have the scope more talented actors have but I don’t want to give up. My family asks me how I don’t get tired. Acting keeps me happy, not because I’m the focus, but because I might bring joy to someone I might never meet. I hate wearing makeup (for work), but I do it.”

Shah Rukh said that he has never truly understood the meaning of fame, adding that although he approaches celebrity with a detached attitude, he takes the respect and affection from his followers extremely seriously. He said that for him, being a celebrity is a different thing from his work and the sincere affection and respect he gets from his fans.

“It has nothing to do with what I do and what they do. So I’ve never thought of stardom as anything important. Yes, I respect it a lot. It has given me a lot of recognition, love, monies. My family feels happy because of it. But beyond that, stardom is not something that I carry as the first thing when I walk into a room. For me, I’ve always said this. It’s an old thing I always felt. To me, I wear stardom like a T-shirt, not like a tuxedo. It’s not important,” he said.

Shah Rukh Khan will soon be seen in King, in the meantime. Suhana Khan, along with her father, the superstar, will play the key roles in Sujoy Ghosh's film.
