MUMBAI :Ira Khan, the daughter of Aamir Khan, has previously talked openly about her mental health. In a recent interview, she discussed how she managed her relationship with her parents while going through a difficult period. Ira said that although her parents have always supported her, one of the first problems she had to overcome on her journey was her inability to open up to them.

After Laal Singh Chadha's box office defeat, Aamir declared he would take a break from acting. He has since talked about how he wishes he had spent more time with his family. When Ira was questioned about whether or not Aamir's absence during her youth impacted her relationship with him, she responded, “My relationship with both my parents is something that I’ve had to actively work on a lot. Because the relationship with your parents is the most intense relationship you will ever have.”

According to Ira, the "most complicated relationship" a person will ever have, is with their parents. She said, “you care the most about what they say, so it will take the most, and it will also make you the happiest, both ways.” Ira claimed that she was "forced to work on" her relationship with her mother and father since she was experiencing a lot of difficulties with her mental health.

She continued by discussing how she and her parents are currently getting along. She mentioned, “I think right now my communication with my mother is slightly easier than with my father but I communicate with both of them as openly.” She then shared, “In my head, I have this thing that my father is busy even though he has always said, if you need me just call me.” Ira added that these days even her mother is busy as she is taking care of her parents. “In terms of opening up, I am equally close to both of them.”

Ira further said that she is fortunate to come from a wealthy family and, “fully understands why people get irritated with me and leave angry comments on my Instagram.” Ira is 26 years old and is Reena Dutta's first child with Aamir Khan.
