Superstar Yash Begins Filming as Ravana in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana!

MUMBAI: Nitesh Tiwari’s highly anticipated magnum opus, Ramayana, is currently being filmed in India, with an ensemble cast led by Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, and Sai Pallavi. The epic retelling of the ancient saga has already seen Ranbir and Sai complete portions of their shoot in Mumbai. Now, Yash—who not only plays the formidable Ravana but also serves as a producer—has officially begun filming his part in the city.

Yash Steps Into Ravana’s Shoes

According to the latest reports, Yash arrived in Mumbai and commenced shooting for Ramayana – Part 1 on February 21, following two days of intense costume trials. The current filming schedule is dedicated to large-scale war sequences, with key battle scenes being shot at Aksa Beach in Mumbai. Subsequently, the production will shift to a studio in Dahisar for the next phase of filming.

A source revealed, "The war sequences are being crafted on a massive scale, showcasing Ravana's strategic brilliance. The action choreography blends live-action combat with green screen technology, requiring extensive VFX work. This segment does not involve Ranbir Kapoor, as it’s not the climactic Ram-Ravana face-off. Other key actors have joined Yash for this crucial phase."

A Grand Two-Part Epic

Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana is set to be released in two parts, with the first installment arriving in theaters on Diwali 2026, followed by the second on Diwali 2027.

Alongside its star-studded lead cast, the film also features Lara Dutta, Sunny Deol, Indira Krishna, and others in pivotal roles. With an ambitious vision and state-of-the-art visual effects, Ramayana is shaping up to be one of Indian cinema’s most monumental projects.
