Sushmita posted a picture of herself dressed in a white dress with the 'Miss Universe' sash around her shoulder. In the photo, she is holding a toddler in her arms and smiling at her. Along with the photo, Sushmita wrote a note that read, "This little girl, whom I met in an orphanage, taught an 18-year-old me life’s most innocent yet profound lessons, ones that I live by to this day. This captured moment is 30 years old today, as is India’s first-ever Victory at Miss Universe!!! (sic)."

"My mother said okay fine let her win. If you think that she’s the world’s most beautiful then lose from her. What’s the point of losing from someone else? Go give it your best shot," Sushmita said. Sushmita's most recent appeared in the Disney+ Hotstar series 'Aarya.'
